Who knows how long I’ve trembled in these clothes
Resembling who I am
An unassembled man
Too cozy for my comfort I suppose

Fall the days like mighty oaks
The joke’s on all us ordinary folks
Recording passing time
Rewarding every crime
A smokescreen token’s solitary hoax

Fall the days like broken glass
Compassion for aspersions that I’ve cast
Imperviously scarred
By curious disregard
For unembarrassed questions that I’ve asked
